Gabriele Bavagnoli
Founder

After a 20-year career in strategy consulting and private equity, Gabriele Bavagnoli founded Milano Capital in 2014 and has been its Managing Director since then.

In 2017, together with Maurizio Borletti and Paolo De Spirt of the Borletti Group, he co-founded Spactiv, a Special Purpose Acquisition Company, which raised € 90 million from Italian and international investors in a widely oversubscribed IPO. He served as Spactiv CEO until September 2020.

From 2014 to 2016 he was Managing Director  at Idea Capital –  a leading Italian Private Equity Firm with more than € 1.5 billion assets under  management – where he co-led the creation  of a € 200+ million Private Equity Fund focused on Food & Beverage, and carried out the leveraged  buy-out of Gruppo La Piadineria, a fast-growing  restaurant chain, in which he served as Board  member. The investment was later sold at more than 12 times the entry value.

From 1997 to 2014 he has been at McKinsey & Company, where in 2007 he became Partner in the Milan Office. Within McKinsey, he advised global Retail, Consumer Goods and Telecom clients in Italy, UK, US, the Netherlands, Eastern Europe, and Africa on strategy, finance, and commercial topics. He also advised several Private Equity firms in due diligence and performance enhancement efforts.

Before McKinsey he acquired experience in M&A at Morgan Stanley in London. Since 2014 he is board member and since 2017 President at FBH, holding company of Baraclit, a family-owned business and the largest Italian manufacturer of prefabricated buildings. In 2013 he orchestrated the foundation of Dianax, a biotech company specialised in portable diagnostic tests, where he served as board member for 7 years. He is also a member of the NonExecutiveDirector Community and has been an angel investors within Italian Angels for Growth.

He holds a Master of Business Administration from Columbia University, New York, a Laurea cum laude in Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and a Liceo Classico Diploma.

Gianluca Longhi
Partner

Gianluca Longhi has over twenty years of experience in Corporate and Investment banking, advisory, strategic consultancy and general management.

He joined Milano Capital as Partner in 2021. Before that, he was Managing Director and member of the Executive Committee of the Corporate and Investment Banking Division at UniCredit, where he started to work in 2008 and where he covered several roles: among others, he was Deputy Head of FIG Italy and Head of CIB Global Client Management.

From 2001 to 2008, he was a strategy consultant at McKinsey’s Corporate Finance Practice, where he was elected Associate Principal in 2005, serving leading international Groups and Private Equity funds in Europe and in the Middle East mainly on Strategy and Corporate Finance topics.

From 1998 to 2001, he worked as Analyst in the M&A department of Morgan Stanley in London.

He holds a degree in Management Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. His interests for digital transformation and contemporary art led him to co-found two startups and to be advisor to several others.

Jacopo Schiavolin
Senior Associate

Jacopo joined Milano Capital in May 2021, after a 1-year experience at BNP Paribas in the Real Estate Investment Management division, where he worked as a Financial Analyst within a € 350 million fund.

He graduated with honors in Management Engineering and Finance at Politecnico di Milano, having participated to a six-month exchange programme at the Moscow State University, Russia.

Emanuele Nicora
Industry Expert

Emanuele has in-depth skills and knowledge of the organizational and business logic of the retail sector (Food, No Food and Catering) and of the FMCG value chain with particular reference to the food sector. He has also been able to support Private Equity and Venture Capital Funds in restructuring and expansion projects and has a solid knowledge of the operating mechanisms of Public and Participated Companies.

He started his professional career in top-tier insurance companies. After completing his MBA, he entered the consulting business working with the French multinational Altran.

At the end of this experience, convinced that Human Capital is the strategic asset of organizations, he moves into Executive Search as a consultant in multinational companies specialized in the search of both Middle and Executive.

Since 2007, he has collaborated with Key2people Executive Search first as Senior Consultant and Principal. From 2022, he has been an Associate Partner with responsibility on Retail & FMCG Practice, working on both national and international projects.

He currently acts as Industry Expert for Milano Capital and Senior Advisor for Oltre Venture (the first Social Private Equity fund in Italy), Red Seed Venture.

Since 2022 he has been appointed Deputy Chairman of Inside Intelligence Security & Investigations SA.

Graduated in Law with a focus on Business Economics, he obtained an MBA from the MIP School of Management of the Milan’s Politecnico in 2005 and a private PhD in Corporate Governance from the IASSP.

Alessandro Zunino
Industry Expert

Alessandro Zunino has over 30 years of experience as CEO and senior manager at large corporations, advisor and investor in SMEs, and strategic consultant.

He joined Milano Capital as Industry Expert in 2022.

He is currently Board Member and Chairman of the Control and Risks Committee at A2A SpA.

Since 2020 he acts as advisor, investor and Board Member with PE Funds, SMEs and Scale-Ups active in the Energy Transition and in Services.

In 2019 – 2020 he was Group CEO at Comdata SpA, a portfolio company of The Carlyle Group and leading player in the BPO business with €1Bn revenues and +50.000 employees in 22 Countries.

From 2002 to 2019 he worked at Edison SpA as Head of Strategic Planning, Marketing Director, Director of B2B Sales and since 2007 CEO of Edison Energia as well as Executive VP of the Division Gas&Power Markets.

Before Edison, he worked at McKinsey & Company from 1997 to 2001, where he was Associate Principal and advised clients in Manufacturing of industrial equipment, Transportation, Automotive and Energy in Italy, Germany and the Netherlands.

He started his career as consultant at Roland Berger & Partners in Spain and in Germany, where he served clients in the Automotive, Manufacturing, Steel and White Goods industries.

He holds an MBA from Insead (Fontainebleau), a Degree in Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and a Liceo Classico Diploma.
